About Us
The Australian Jewish Funders (AJF) was formed in 2005 to provide a more comprehensive and effective means for our members to carry out their philanthropic work in accordance with the Jewish values embedded in Tzedakah.
Membership of the AJF enables individuals, families, foundations and professionals to enhance their capacity to fund meaningfully and effectively.
By sharing our experience, our knowledge and our ideas, we are able to identify crucial issues in philanthropy and to formulate strategies for addressing them. By engaging in a range of joint activities, we develop our understanding of the philosophical, social and legal aspects of philanthropy. By initiating events and projects, we assist donors, recipients and the community to develop and share a common conceptual and practical framework for the conduct of philanthropy.
We especially recognise that young people in the Jewish community are an energetic, innovative and essential part of philanthropy in the modern world. We are actively helping them to participate in philanthropy, to implement their ideas and to enrich their understanding of the role of philanthropy in their lives and the lives of others.
We are continually working to build the intellectual capital of our organisation, to keep ourselves well informed of key developments in philanthropy worldwide and to nurture strong relationships with international Jewish donor networks.
The AJF strives to be of value to its members in their philanthropic activities and to play an important part in the advancement of philanthropy in Australian society.
